Affordable Safari
A
selection of well priced camps in Southern and East Africa
Mashatu Tented Camp
in the Northern Tuli area of Botswana offers superb
game and bird viewing at an affordable price. This splendid camp
accommodates only 17 guests and costs approximately £100per person
per night.
Pafuri Camp
in South Africa’s Kruger National Park works
well with Mashatu, just over the border in Botswana, as part of
a Southern African itinerary. This remote part of the Park is particularly
famous for huge herds of elephant and buffalo. The new Pafuri Walking
Trails, to be up and running next year, cost from £100 per person
per night.
Mobile camping set departures
introduced this year include
new itineraries with Letaka Safaris run by brothers Grant and Brent
Reed in Botswana. Still with space are Robin Pope Safaris’ Shoebill
Stalk trips in Zambia. Both of these work well for single travellers.
Offbeat Meru Camp
in Meru National Park, one of Kenya’s most scenically
beautiful but least visited parks, can be combined with Kicheche
Camp in the Masai Mara. These reasonably priced camps work very well
together to give a superb game and bird viewing itinerary.
