  Hide and Seek

Hide at Kings Pool Botswana

When most people envisage game viewing the first thoughts that spring to mind are sitting on a Land Cruiser or trekking through the bush wondering if the elephant poo you just stepped in didn’t seem a little too fresh.

But some of my favourite game viewing experiences have been when I have had the chance just to sit and watch the wildlife unfold around me and there is no better place to do this than in a hide.

Hides give you the opportunity to see wildlife completely at ease without any influence of our presence. Whether you’re high up a tree or dug in on the banks of a river, letting nature get on and do its thing can unveil some amazing spectacles not seen when you are driving or walking. The photographic opportunities are quite superb, and as well as big game viewing the bird viewing from a hide can also be excellent.

Some of our favourite hides can be found at the following camps:

Kaingo Camp and Mwamba Bush Camp in the South Luangwa,        Zambia.

Kings Pool in the Linyati, Botswana.

Savuti in the Linyati, Botswana.

Mashatu Tented Camp in the Mashatu Reserve, western Botswana.
