Most African countries have a vast selection of different bird species, but for sheer variety it's hard to beat Uganda and Rwanda, with habitats that range from huge lakes, through tracts of virgin rainforest up to snow-capped mountain peaks. In these countries the resident species are swelled each winter by annual migrants from Siberia and Norway. Further south the species change, with a whole new range of birds and habitats to discover, from the dry lands of Namibia to the rainforests of Madagascar.
