Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris operate in The Tuli Block area of Botswana's Mashatu Game Reserve. This is an area with a great diversity of landscape, with magnificent views and ancient geological formations. A multitude of wildlife species are found here including cheetah, lion prides and large elephant herds. The river courses are lined with huge riverine trees which provide shade for giraffe, zebra, eland, impala, and wildebeest. A lot of the riding takes place along the banks of the famous Limpopo River and during the dry season along the dry river bed expanded canters take place.

Botswana Limpopo Valley Horse safari features 31 horses of varying breeds including boerperds, shire cross, thoroughbreds, appaloosas and South African warmblood varying in size from 14.3hh to 17hh. The safari is a fast paced riding experience and the horses have been hand picked with great temperament and experience of being around wildlife. Riders should anticipate time in the saddle to be between four and seven hours per day. There will be obstacles to overcome such as odd jumps to cross as well as steep riverbanks to navigate through. Tuli Safari is one of the many options that you have with Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris. Here you will explore the Tuli reserve on a seven night adventure as you spend the nights in fly camps under the beautiful star lit nights. There are also two Mashatus camps that can be vacationed at for as long as you like, in which you may take horses out at your leisure day (there is no fly camping option with this safari and it is only available in March and November). Or you may also try the Big Five Safari which you will be able to split your eight day safari into half with four days at Limpopo Valley Horse safaris and the other four with Horizon Horseback Adventures in South Africa (see separate page).

Accommodation is a combination of tented camps with long drop loos on raised platforms, and wilderness safari camps where guests sleep in canvas dome tents with single beds, sleeping bags, paraffin lanterns, camp fires, bucket showers, and hygienic pit latrines. Some of the itineraries visit Kgothla, an old tribal court on the western edge of Mashatu; the sleeping arrangements here comprise leadwood logs in a circular boma, with sleeping bags laid on stretchers around a central large fire.
