The Selinda canoe trail is a  three day canoe safari that operates on set dates each year from mid-May to mid-October. It is a small group trip with a maximum of eight guests but can also be taken on an exclusive basis. You canoe along the Selinda Spillway – the waterway that connects the Okavango Delta and Kwando water systems in Northern Botswana – which for more than 20 years it was dry, but has recently filled again, providing visitors to this stunning and amazingly remote region with an incredible wilderness safari. Viewing wildlife from the water is a very special experience. With no engines you get to have a quiet, serene game viewing experience with the chance to see a variety of larger animals at close proximity such as elephant, hippo, buffalo as well as aquatic birds such as the fish eagle, kingfisher and bee-eaters.

Accommodation & Facilities
Each day you will move to a new camping location by canoe covering a total distance of about 45 kilometres. By night, you will sleep in  simple, with dome tents, but still comfortable with tables and chairs for alfesco meals under the stars. There are two shared bucket showers per group, plus one long-drop loo, which is screened off at the back of the camp. The head guide and four support staff will set up and move the camp, transport all the baggage, and have it all ready for your arrival later on. They will also have meals ready for you as well hot water for showers.

Wildlife & Activities
Whilst you don’t need to be an experienced canoeist to join the Selinda canoe trail trip you do need to be relatively fit and have an adventurous spirit! There is often the chance to enjoy walking safaris which adds another, totally different, dimension to the trip. The exact plan and timings for each day will be made by the guide based on the climate, the group’s wishes and capabilities and what wildlife is spotted along the way.
