Jao Camp
Jao Camp is
situated on a private game reserve bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the
Okavango Delta. The fluctuating water levels in the Delta dictate the type and
numbers of game and the activities available at the camp.
The camp
consists of nine spacious rooms with adjoining bathrooms and a ‘sala’ area, the
rooms are raised up on wooden decks underneath the tree canopy and surrounded
by lush palms. The central lounge, dining and bar area has a natural thatched
roof. Guests at Jao Camp can relax around the swimming pool and massages are
available on request.
Wildlife
viewing from Jao Camp is excellent-with lion, leopard, and cheetah regularly
sighted. Zebra, tsessebe, red lechwe, wildebeest, giraffe, and warthog wander
the flood plains and herds of buffalo move in and out of the reserve at will.
Night drives are available and are a good way to view animals not often seen during
the day, such as pangolin, porcupine, spotted hyena, civet, spring hare,
bushbabies, and genets. The camp organizes
walking safaris and boat trips. You may also
use the mokoro (dug-out canoes) to drift along the narrow waterways of the
Okavango Delta.
