Limpopo Valley Horseback Safaris
Over 350 species of birds have been recorded in the area. The Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris’ base is at Fort Jamesons in the southern sector of the reserve; guest accommodations here are in rustic log cabins, which provide essential luxuries. The cabins have comfortable single beds with insect nets, flush toilets, and hot water showers. On safari, the overnight accommodations are at wilderness safari camps, where guests sleep in canvas dome tents with single beds, sleeping bags, paraffin lanterns, camp fires, bucket showers, and hygienic pit latrines. Some of the itineraries visit Kgothla, an old tribal court on the western edge of Mashatu; the sleeping arrangements here comprise leadwood logs in a circular boma, with sleeping bags laid on stretchers around a central large fire. Guests follow riding trails in the vicinity of the Limpopo Valley; the varied terrains include both the riverine and true African mopane bushveld. The famous granite rock formations of the Tuli Block are stunning. Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris individually select their horses for their even temperaments and rideability; they include Boerperd, Basuto, Anglos and S.A. Warmbloods, ranging in size from 14 h.h. to 16.2 h.h. in various colors. The company has substantial experience leading expeditions in the region, and their staff are experienced horsemen and game rangers who will ensure that guests see the best of the wildlife within the reserve.

Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris operate in The Tuli Block area of Botswana's Mashatu Game Reserve. This is an area with a great diversity of landscape, with magnificent views and ancient geological formations. A multitude of wildlife species are found here including cheetah, lion prides and large elephant herds. The river courses are lined with huge riverine trees which provide shade for giraffe, zebra, eland, impala, and wildebeest. At night, the leopard, bat eared fox and African wild cat are on the prowl, searching for prey.
