Xigera is a beautiful tented camp in a remote section of the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta, in Botswana. Access into this area is only by aircraft and if the water levels are high in winter, a mokoro trip and /or a boat will transfer guests from the airstrip to camp.
The ten tented rooms are large and comfortably appointed, with an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, shower, and flush toilet - and an outside shower under the stars. The camp has a plunge pool too, and overlooks a floodplain and a waterhole.
Xigera offers both water and land activities, although if water levels are high land activities may not be possible. Mokoros (dug-out canoes) traverse the Okavango flood plains under the guidance of experienced polers, boat trips are also possible, and on land open 4x4 Land Rovers allow guests to get close to animals in the savannah areas. Walking safaris are also available, and birding in the area is excellent. Visitors have a good chance of seeing lion and leopard along with all plains game and the rare sitatunga marsh dwelling antelope.
