Elsa's Kopje
Elsa's Kopje, situated within the Meru National Park, is in the Northern Frontier District of Kenya. The lodge is named after the orphaned lioness, star of the film "Born-Free," who was reared by Joy and George Adamson before being released back into the wild. This is the driest park in Kenya with stunning landscapes. Thirteen rivers run through the park from the mountains, cutting green valleys through the dry brown hillsides. The eight stone and thatch cottages of Elsa's Kopje are well-separated, giving a feeling of privacy to each. Their position on the hillside affords the cottages excellent views across the hills and valleys. There is also a swimming pool where you may survey the surrounding park. Day and night game drives are available from Elsa's Kopje. It is also possible to take a guided walk or an excursion to the neighboring Kora National Park. Rafting on the Tana River and fishing are also available.
