Offbeat Meru Camp
Offbeat Meru Camp is situated in the Bisandi National Reserve neighboring the Meru National Park. Meru’s wide variety of habitats and landscapes provide excellent game viewing on the savannah, swamps and riverine forest in the area.
Accommodation & Facilities
The camp itself overlooks the Bisanadi River and consists of six semi-permanent luxury safari tents, each with adjoining bathrooms with bucket showers, wash basin and flush toilets. The luxuriously furnished tents have huge beds, solar lighting and the finest linen bedspreads. Offbeat Meru Camp’s facilities include a large lounge tent furnished with comfortable sofas, library and a writing table, and a bar. There is also a swimming pool at the camp.
Wildlife & Activities
Meru is less famous than some of Kenya’s other destinations; it offers a retreat and excellent game viewing away from the crowds. The landscape of the park is mainly savannah, but also includes swamps and riverine forest which is home to lion, leopard, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, elephant, black and white rhino and numerous antelope. Birdwatching is a favorite activity in the area. Thirteen rivers rise to the west in the Nyambene hills and flow to the south through the park towards the Tana River. For a different perspective of the landscape, walking safaris are offered as well.
