Ol Kanjau is located on Masai community land just outside the boundary of Amboseli National Park. This stunning location is dwarfed by Mount Kilimanjaro, which is only 20 miles away and nearly 20 thousand feet high. There are extraordinary views of the mountain when the clouds part and she reveals her full face. Around the camp the bush is mainly flat-topped acacia tortilis trees which support a wide variety of wildlife, including elephant.

The simple tented camp at Ol Kanjau is in traditional safari style; the comfortable tents have bucket-style showers and short drop toilets at the rear. Your hosts, Mike and Judy Rainy, are both fully-qualified safari guides; they have been involved in the wildlife, habitat conservation and ecology of Kenya for more than forty years and have a mass of combined knowledge.

Ol Kanjau is the local Masai phrase meaning "place of the elephants," and your guides will introduce you to some of the 52 matriarchal elephant families in the area. Masai guides and trackers will take you on game walks and day trips into the Amboseli National Park where you will be able to appreciate the mosaic of wet and dry lands in the area. The area is home to one third of Kenya's 1,080 bird species and the wetlands and marsh areas are a haven for water birds.
