Richard's Camp
Richard's Camp, just outside the Masai Mara Reserve is in a private area only a 40 minute flight away from Nairobi. The local airstrip, a short drive away, has both charter and scheduled flights. Each of the seven large safari tents has an adjoining bathroom with bucket showers and flush toilets. There is also a free-standing “bath in the bush” which provides guests with a great way to relax between more strenuous activities. The camp has a lounge area and dining tent, but most meals are eaten outdoors. Experienced guides can arrange game walks with an or a game drive in a customized 4x4 vehicle, and night game drives are also possible from Richard’s Camp. The Masai Mara Reserve has a large population of elephant, giraffe, hippo, leopard and cheetah as well as large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and various antelope. The herds of wildebeest and zebra pass close by on their annual migration from the southern plains of the Serengeti from late June to mid October. Cultural visits to the Masai Manyattas are also possible. The camp can also organize unique bush dinners by the hippo pools.
