Rusinga Island      
  
Rusinga Island is a small luxuriously designed and fitted lodge on the shores of Lake Victoria. You can expect the highest standards of personal service and comfort. Thatched guest cottages and traditional safari tents are surrounded by manicured lawns and ancient trees. Also you can find the magnificent fish eagle which has a memorable call. Many of the activities on Rusinga Island are found at Lake Victoria. Fishing for monster Nile perch (up to 200 lbs!) and sometimes tilapia, are favorite pastimes; water skiing and windsurfing are also available. The bird watching is superb and you can visit nearby fishing villages while exploring this beautiful and remote African lake. Rusinga Island is the perfect place for a family vacation because of its lakeside location and selection of water sports. Nearby Ruma National Park is a gem waiting to be discovered. It is one of Kenya’s least visited National Parks and home to the rare oribi, Bohor`s reedbuck, as well as the last remaining herd of roan antelope in Kenya. The famous Proconsul skull was discovered by the Leakey family in 1947 on the island and visits can be arranged to the dig site.
