Sarara tented camp is situated on the lower slopes of Wamba Mountain with stunning views towards the natural amphitheater of the Mathews Range. The camp is owned and run by the local Samburu Community.  This is a true wilderness area with a truly magical feel, close by are the incredible seasonal "singing" wells where the Samburu cattle are watered. All the profit from the camp is for the use of the local community and supports local schools, education bursaries, households, and various other local group and community schemes.

Sarara Camp is built exclusively with local materials. The camp comprises five double safari tents with private showers and a large veranda with views across the surrounding landscape. There is a spacious dining area under a large thatched roof and comfortable sofas where guests can relax next to the natural rock swimming pool, which itself has views overlooking a waterhole where wildlife frequently comes to drink.

Large migrating herds of elephant gather in Namunyak having traveled from Laikipia to the south. Additionally other wildlife such as leopard and wild dog are increasingly being seen in the area. Sarara offers a number of activities including game drives and walks, camel trips, breakfast and dinners in the bush, simple fly camps and visits to the local ‘singing wells’. It’s also possible to enjoy trips closer to the game reserves at Samburu or Shaba, or to climb through the cedar forest of the sacred Lolokwe Mountain.
