Serian
Serian is a small bush camp in a secluded valley on the banks of the Mara River. In the local Maa language “serian” means “peaceful or serene”, which describes the camp beautifully. The camp is owned and run by professional filmmaker and guide Alex Walker. The surrounding area has large amounts of game and the camp is an excellent base for both walking and vehicle based wildlife viewing. The eight large, airy safari tents are elegantly and stylishly furnished, with African artwork and comfortable beds. The tents are set in the shade of large Walburgia and Oleadra trees and have adjoining open-sided bush bathrooms with a flush toilet, shower, and a large bush bathtub. Guests at Serian Camp enjoy spectacular views over the Mara River from the accommodations and the wooden decks are the perfect place for relaxing after game viewing trips. There is a communal dining and sitting/reading area and a large fireplace. Serian Camp offers vehicle based game drives (guests have the use of a private vehicle and guide during their stay) in the Masai Mara and guided bush walks with a local guide. Guests can also take the opportunity to dine and sleep outside under the stars at the nearby 'fly camp'. For those who would like to experience another part of the Masai Mara, then Serian's mobile camp would be a good choice. This ten bed camp moves location to take advantage of wildlife concentrations and to maximize game viewing.
