Shompole
Shompole, perched on the edge of the Nguruman Escarpment in south eastern Kenya, overlooks the magnificent Great Rift Valley and Shompole Mountain. The lodge is situated between the Masai Mara and Amboseli Reserves, close to Lake Natron and the Tanzanian border. The six stylishly minimalist rooms and two suites have adjoining bathrooms and small plunge pools. This area sometimes gets very hot and the rooms have an open-plan design to take advantage of the afternoon breeze. The main swimming pool, overlooking the valley, is a wonderful place to relax with a cool drink.
A small
annual migration passes through this area and many predators and species of
antelope live here. Game activities are available at Shompole as well as canyon
walks and trips to see the flamingos on Lake Natron,
a natural soda lake.
