Bush House
Bush House overlooks Lake Ampitabe on the Pangalanes Canal on the east coast of Madagascar; this small, secluded property is nestled amongst the forest vegetation and features panoramic views from its hillside site. Most of the lodge has been hand built with local materials and the eleven guest bungalows are all slightly different; most have private bathrooms. There is a central bar and a superb restaurant with an imaginative menu, including traditional Malagasy, French, and Creole dishes. A stay at Bush House enables guests to explore the wonderful unspoiled surroundings either on foot or by boat. There are guided walks in the nearby private reserve where you can expect to see some of the island's protected species including ring-tailed, crowned, red-bellied, black and white ruffled lemurs, chameleons and radiated tortoises. There are also some water based activities available, including canoeing.
