Nkwichi Lodge
Nkwichi Lodge, located on the Mozambican shores of Lake Malawi, is set in a private area with four kilometres of beaches and rocky shoreline, rivers, forest and bush.
Built by the staff, Nkwichi Lodge has been innovatively designed and constructed using a mix of traditional local methods and western styles, specifically to blend with the natural environment. Each chalet is unique and all have private bathrooms with baths set in the rocks and showers hanging from trees. The chalets have been set back from the lakeshore making them invisible from the lake. They are also far enough apart to give a sense of total privacy but not that of isolation.
Two recent additions to the lodge are Makolo House and Songea House and Chalet. Makolo House comprises of two en-suite bedrooms and upstairs platform looking out over the lake. The Songea House offers outside dining facilities, a secluded private beach and a circular reception room with a sunken sitting area and an upstairs bedroom. A separate open fronted chalet is situated a short distance from the main house – making this suitable for four adults. Both houses come with a private chef and are a ten minute walk from the main lodge where you can take full advantage of all the facilities
Nkwichi Lodge offers a wide range of activities, such as canoeing on the lake or local rivers, guided bush walks and trekking looking for birds and wildlife, snorkelling, kite flying, surfing and visits to local community projects. Wildlife in the form of birds and smaller game is plentiful. Pristine bush surrounds a perfect white sandy beach where wild dog have occasionally been sighted. You have the option at mealtimes to be wined and dined under the African stars on the beach, beside your chalet, or in many of the other romantic settings around the lodge.
