Benguerra Lodge is located in the Bazaruto archipelago on Benguerra Island, just off the Mozambique coast. This small island is just seven miles long by about three miles wide and has three freshwater lakes which are home to crocodiles and many species of birds. In 1971 it was declared a national park.

There are three different types of accommodation at the Lodge, two cabanas, ten casitas and one spectacular private villa. The two romantic and lavishly furnished cabanas have been built right on the edge of the beach. Each has an adjoining bathroom and an outdoor shower, overhead fans and private verandah with plunge pool, hammocks and sun loungers. There are ten luxuriously appointed casitas which are furnished in a unique blend of safari chic and Arabic style. Each has a large bedroom, separate lounge area, overhead fan, adjoining bathroom and outdoor shower. The private verandahs have plunge pools and each casita has an outdoor dining gazebo for starlit dinners. Lastly, there is the private Villa which is the epitome of exclusivity. The luxury furnishings and private facilities make it an ideal place for those wanting unsurpassed comfort and privacy, honeymooners and families. A personal chef prepares all meals at the Villa, although the main lodge's dining facilities are also available to Villa guests, if desired. There are two double bedrooms, ceiling fans, adjoining bathrooms, a lounge and dining area, private deck and swimming pool, private garden with beach access.

The facilities are finished with a lounge and dining room. The separate bar area has a large airy patio looking over the beach and sea across lawns and trees where attractive red tailed squirrels play. The meals are fresh from the sea, with cuisine such as crayfish, crab and calamari.

Most of the activities at Benguerra Lodge are water based. Diving on the reef and snorkeling give guests the opportunity to view the abundant marine life and the unspoiled beauty of this part of the African coast. There is the chance to sail to uninhabited Pansy Island, picnic and sunbathe in seclusion, explore the deserted beaches and freshwater lakes on the island and or simply relax at the lodge. The bird-watching is superb in this pristine environment. The lodge can organize trips to the Mozambique mainland and visits to the local market where guests can enjoy lunch, view the old harbor and visit the famous Donna Anna Hotel.
