Doro Nawas![]() ![]()
The 17 rooms at Doro Nawas are thatched, with natural stone and canvas walls and wood and glass doors. A large bedroom opens out onto the private veranda and outdoor shower (this is in addition to indoor bathroom facilities) Should guests want to sleep under the stars, the beds can be wheeled out onto the veranda. There are indoor and outdoor dining areas, a small pool, bar and shop. A staircase leads up to the flat roof, which is perfect for sunbathing or stargazing. Game and bird-watching are the main activities on the vast, uninterrupted area of Dora Nawas. There are also visits to the proposed world heritage site of Twyfelfontein, the site of around 2,000 rock engravings by the ancient San people. Game such as springbok, oryx and ostrich can be found on the plains, as depicted by the ancient art. Animals such as Hartman’s mountain zebra keep to the higher mountain slopes. The most remote areas are home to the desert-adapted black rhino and elephants keep to the tree-lined areas of the Aba-Huab and Huab Rivers. This is also a good area for viewing endemic Namibian bird species, such as Rüppel's korhaan, Monteiro's hornbill, and Benguela long-billed lark.
