Huab Lodge

In the Damaraland area of Namibia, halfway between Khorixas and Kamanjab, lies Huab Lodge. The lodge, which is run and owned by Jan and Suzi Van de Reep, is in a private reserve and sits on the bank of the mostly dry Huab River.

Blending into the scenery are Huab Lodge’s eight large stone and thatch bungalows, all of which are very comfortable and gracefully decorated. The main dining area and bar are under thatch, with a pool and sun deck close by. Only a short walk away, is a hot spring overlooking the riverbed. A small bathing pool under thatch has been created there.

The permanent water in the riverbed and seeping from springs attracts many birds and animals including oryx, kudu and leopard. Huab Lodge offers guided bush walks as well as scenic drives in the dry riverbed in safari vehicles. Bird-watching and stargazing with a powerful telescope are also possible.
