For the complete ‘Big 5’ experience, combine riding in the Dinaka Reserve in South Africa’s Waterberg Mountains with rides along the Limpopo River in the Tuli Block, Botswana. You can expect some fast gallops alongside wildlife, cantering along dry river beds and jumping the odd fallen tree. This is a really fun ride which offers an affordable way of riding in two completely contrasting areas with very different terrain and wildlife.

During The Big Five Safari, guests spend four nights with Horizon Horseback Safaris (South Africa) and four nights with Limpopo Valley Safaris (Botswana). Whilst in South Africa you are likely to see rhino, hippo, buffalo, giraffe and zebra amongst others and over the border in Botswana you get the opportunity to encounter elephant, lion and leopard on horseback. You will need to be a confident rider to consider this safari and be happy at all paces while crossing some uneven terrain.  You need to have some ‘stick-ability’ as close viewing of elephants is one of the highlights.

While you are at the Dinaka Safari lodge you will stay in permanent and smart accommodation.  At Limpopo Valley Horse safaris guests stay in tents on a mobile safari, with all your needs catered for by a team of staff.
