Londolozi
Londolozi Private Game Reserve is set in the world-renowned Sabi Sands in South Africa, and has exclusive rights over 7000 hectares. The campfire that was first lit in 1926 by Charles Boyd Varty and Frank Unger by the banks of the Sand River has not changed location, and the camp is now run by the grand-children and great grand-children of these founders.
Londolozi is made up of five camps; Founders Camp, Pioneer Camp, Bateleur Camp, Tree Camp and the safari Lodge. Each is private and small, the largest camp being Bateleur with eight chalets and four suites, each of which has a private verandah and plunge pool. Accommodation at all the camps is made from natural materials, and the natural colours used in the décor make all the rooms warm and inviting. Dinners are often enjoyed by firelight in the boma, the outdoor, reeded dining area.
While at Londolozi guests can view some of Africa's most impressive wildlife, particularly its famous leopards, on morning and evening game drives, or on bush walks. The guides and trackers at Londolozi are some of the best on the continent, and really add to the quality of a stay at the camp. Guests are also invited to visit the nearby communities of Lilydale and Huntington, where the long history of community partnership with the camp is in evidence.
