Hatari Lodge
Hatari Lodge is located on the edge of Mount Meru National Park just north of Arusha in northern Tanzania. The park is one of Tanzania’s smallest, but is rich with bird and wildlife due to the Momella swamps and lush forest surrounding Mount Meru. The lodge has lovely views of Kilimanjaro in the distance.
There are nine extremely comfortably furnished rooms at Hatari Lodge, each with an open fireplace and a spacious en suite bathroom. The rooms have been lovingly decorated in a retro style, evoking the 1960s and 1970s and the beginning of safaris in Tanzania. The oldest building serves as a large central living and dining room where guests will enjoy delicious cuisine. There is also a cosy lounge area and bar with a verandah and viewing deck, as well as a library.
The small plains and lush forest attracts a number of antelope species as well as buffalo, warthogs and many giraffe. Activities include open top game drives around the lakes and high up into Mount Meru where you may glimpse a colobus monkey. It is also possible to go hiking and canoeing while staying here.
