Sand Rivers Selous
Sand Rivers Selous is an exceedingly outstanding camp located on an outcrop of rock, providing panoramic views over the Rufiji River, in Tanzania's Selous Game Reserve, which is the largest reserve in Africa and the second largest protected area in the world. The reserve itself has a small number of camps and are set aprt by miles. The camp has five generous open-fronted stone and thatch cottages, two suites (Tagalala and Kipalala) and the private Rhino House. Each cottage has adjoining bathrooms facing the river, with flush toilets and powerful showers. The suite rooms have their own private plunge pool and lounge area. There is a large communal area which encorporates a dining room and bar. In the shade of an old baobab tree is a swimming pool set just up from the riverbank. Sand River Selous also manages Rhino House which is a private house just 100 meters from the main lodge. Guests booking this property have the exclusivity and privacy of their own plunge pool, kitchen, chef, butler and private guide. Guests during their stay can choose from walking safaris, boat trips or game drives in an open vehicle. There is also the opportunity to book a fly camping trip in advance. As well as large numbers of predators, prey and birds in the area, the opportunity to see packs of wild dog is a particular feature of this area.
