Kaingo is a beautiful camp situated deep within the wilderness of Zambia's South Luangwa National Park which offers some of the finest game viewing in Africa. Owned and run by Derek Shenton and his wife Juliet , the camp has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and it's remoteness allows for an undisturbed and exclusive safari. Derek has worked for many years in the Luangwa Valley and his intimate knowledge of the bush and its wildlife makes every safari a unique experience.
The camp nestles among large ebony trees on the banks of the meandering Luangwa River. The six well ventilated en-suite chalets are set discretely apart, lighting is provided by solar power and the rooms are mosquito proofed with gauze windows and nets above each bed. Camp life at Kaingo revolves around a large sided bar/dining "chitenge" including lounge and campfire area. A special feature is the platform built out over the river which allows guests to view game coming down drink. Meals are varied and of a high standard, using fresh from the family farm, and cold drinks are at hand from the stocked bar.
Kaingo Camp's safari activities include waking safaris and day and night vehicle based game viewing. Picnics, bush breakfasts and all day game drives can also be arranged. Game viewing from a number of secluded hide offers wonderful photographic opportunities.
