Kakuli Bushcamp
Kakuli Bushcamp is a remote, seasonal destination in the South Luangwa National Park, operated by Norman Carr Safaris. The camp is located at the merge of the Luangwa and Luwi Rivers on a raised ridge with spectacular views over the surrounding landscape. Kakuli Bushcamp consists of five traditional safari tents with thatched roofs and a private open air bathroom made from natural materials. In the central area of the camp, there is a bar and dining “chitenje” which is constructed of reed and thatch, which forms the central point of the camp and has a deck extending over the grazing lawn to the front. Activities available include vehicle-based day and night game drives and guided bush walks. Lion, elephant, and buffalo are regularly sighted in the area, and guests have a good chance of seeing leopard. In the green season (December to April) the activities are all by boat due to the full rivers so game drives are not possible. Kakuli Bushcamp can be combined with the three other Norman Carr bush camps in the South Luangwa National Park to form a complete walking safari.
