Kawaza Village
Kawaza Village is situated just outside the South Luangwa National Park and is home to members of the Kunda tribe. Guests choosing to stay here have a unique opportunity to spend time in a real Zambian rural village and involve themselves with the local people and village life. There are accommodations for up to eight guests in simple thatched African huts. You can stay here for just a single night or maybe for three or four nights to really get the feel of the lifestyle in the village. You may get to meet the village Chief, a local traditional healer, and there is also the opportunity to spend a morning with the ladies collecting water and cooking. There are often local construction projects in progress, and guests staying for a few nights may be invited to get involved with them. Kawaza Village is the winner of the prestigious British Guild of Travel Writers’ Silver Otter Award for “Best Overseas Tourism Project.”
