236 Hurumzi

Formerly known as Emerson and Green, 239 Hurumzi is situated in the center of Stone Town on the idyllic island of Zanzibar. This lovely old building once belonged to a rich merchant and opened as a hotel after extensive refurbishment in 1994.  Many of the original features can still be seen, and the period features give the hotel a real “Arabian Nights” feel.

There are only 16 rooms, all of which have private bathrooms, many with large stone baths. The large Zanzibari beds, jasmine flowers on the pillows and fresh flowers give the rooms a real feeling of luxury.  The Tower Top restaurant on the roof has fabulous views looking out onto the sparkling Indian Ocean.

Hurumzi is an ideal base for exploring all the main attractions and the friendly owners are happy to chat to guests about the local sites.
