Mnemba

Just to the northeast of Zanzibar is Mnenba Island, a private paradise surrounded by beautiful unspoiled beaches and a stunning coral reef, home to a variety of sea life including giant turtles and ghost crabs.

There are ten cottages, all with private bathrooms, which are set into the forest and overlook the beach. The cottages have been hand woven and thatched from tree branches and traditional Zanzibari palm-matting. There is a large outdoor veranda, and a palm covered walkway leads to the private bathroom. The dining room, lounge, and bar in the main area all overlook the beach and sparkling Indian Ocean.

Diving and snorkelling are wonderful, with beautiful tropical fish in abundance. Traditional dhow sailing trips, fishing, wind-surfing and canoeing can also be organized.
