Aardvark Safaris & Carbon Offsetting

Our actions, including flying, consume energy and produce carbon dioxide emissions. Offsetting is a way of compensating for the emissions produced with an equivalent carbon dioxide saving. We acknowledge that carbon offsetting is not a cure for climate change but it can help raise awareness, reduce the impact of our actions and where projects prevent or remove an equivalent amount of carbon dioxide elsewhere the overall effect is zero.
At Aardvark our aim is to help decrease the impact of flights used by us and our clients by offsetting the related carbon emissions. We will be adding from the 1st March an optional £17 per person to your balance invoice. Payment is purely a matter of personal choice and if you do not wish to include this or are already setup with a carbon offsetting scheme please simply deduct the amount from your final balance.
All donations made will be going to the Reforest Nsefu Project being run by Robin Pope Safari in Zambia, please click here for more details: www.kawaza.org
The aim of the project is to aid in carbon offsetting by replanting trees in the Mfuwe region in Zambia. This project not only benefits the environment but creates a new source of employment and generates a harvest from the fruit bearing trees planted for local community involved in the project, so a beneficial project regardless of it carbon offsetting remunerations.
Whilst there is currently not a recognised third party certification, scientific data is being gathered and analysed, and one advantage is that all the money goes to planting trees rather than paying an organisation for a certificate.
