Fishing in AfricaFishing in Africa

The sheer variety of fishing in Africa forms an irresistible bait to lure any keen angler. The Indian Ocean is particularly known for its game-fishing, and all the lodges we use here can arrange for you to charter well-equipped fishing boats, with highly-skilled skippers to give you the best chances of catching sailfish or marlin. Deep-sea and creek fishing are popular along the coast of Kenya and Tanzania as well as around the offshore islands of Zanzibar, the Seychelles and Mauritius. We also have countless contacts amongst guides who can help with specialist fishing expeditions: fly-fish for giant trevally or bonefish in Mozambique, or track the waters of Lake Victoria for giant Nile perch. There's the chance to catch trout in the rivers and streams of upcountry Kenya or the Drakensbergs in South Africa, while the famous tiger fish of the Zambezi can be caught from Zambian or Zimbabwean banks.

For a challenging fishing experience, it's hard to beat joining in with the locals in the shallows of a lake, using a hand-made hook tied to a modest bamboo stick in an attempt to catch an elusive tilapia. That way you'll really feel you've earned your supper!

Serious fishing is a serious business, and for that reason we've set up Aardvark McLeod as our worldwide fishing sister and as a specialist fishing travel agency. If fishing is an important part of your African safari, call Charlotte or Peter at Aardvark McLeod.
