Msambweni House

Msambweni House is a family owned and run lodge located on a quiet four mile long palm fringed beach on Kenya’s South Coast. The lodge is set on a coral cliff within a coral stone wall surrounded by a big expanse of natural bush land. The location of Msambweni offers fabulous views over the Indian Ocean. The main house is of the Lamu style with whitewashed walls, intricate features, high beamed ceilings, Makuti wood roofs, locally carved furniture, large open spaces, and carefully thought out touches such as bright silk cushions, brass lanterns and the candlelit property and infinity pools at night.

There are three spacious, beautifully decorated suites and one luxury tented room in the main house, and two family villas in the gardens. Each of the suites has an adjoining bathroom with a sunken bath and walk in shower, a private verandah, and the shared use of a 82 foot infinity pool with views over the ocean. All are air-conditioned. The tented room has a large shower and ceiling fans. The villas both have two bedrooms, their own private infinity pools and a chef and waiter. The lodge also has a jetty winding down from the beach, which makes a perfect sundowner spot.

Msambweni offers a wide range of activities, which include snorkeling, fishing, kite and wind surfing, mountain biking, massage and beauty treatments. Visits may be arranged to the nearby Kisite Marine Park where guests can go snorkeling and diving with sea turtles, or alternatively to Wasini to go swimming with dolphins. In addition there is a golf course close by, and tennis, scuba diving, motorized water sports and deep sea fishing can all be arranged and paid for locally.
