Desert Homestead is located 35km southeast of Sesriem and the Sossusvlei dunes, in a wide grassy valley, sheltered by the Nubib, Tsaris, and Naukluft Mountains.

There are 20 horses that are suitable for riders of all abilities; calm horses for novices and more lively for the more experienced. These horses are either warmblood cross breeds or homebred local horses and vary in size between 14.2hh and 16.2 hh. The speed of the rides is determined by the slowest rider and you should expect to spend between eight and nine exciting hours in the saddle on the longer rides.

Desert Homestead’s accommodations consist of 20 traditional chalets, built from local rock so that they blend in with the surrounding environment. Each chalet has bathroom facilities and a private outside deck area. They are beautifully decorated and each has its own verandah with northern views extending towards the Rotterlaum Mountains. The main area consists of a dining area bar and lounge, as well as a small sun deck and swimming pool.
