Sossus Dune Lodge
Sossus Dune lodge is the only lodge situated within the Namib-Naukluft Park, meaning guests will benefit from being able to reach the famous Sossusvlei sand dunes before sunrise and stay until after sunset. The lodge itself is built in a very environmentally friendly manner, using woods, canvas and thatch on each chalet. The Namibian government (NWR) own this new, up-market lodge and guests staying here are able to climb the dunes, getting to the top in time for sunrise, which is quite spectacular.
Accommodation & Facilities
Sossus Dune Lodge is made up of 25 canvas and thatch chalets which are linked by raised wooden walkways, with views of either the impressive sand dunes or the Sesrium Canyon and mountains. The main communal area combines a large decked area with a dining room and bar as well as a swimming pool, which provides an ideal atmosphere in which to relax after a long day on the dunes.
Wildlife & Activities
From Sossus Dune Lodge, guests are able to go on Sossusvlei sunset drives and guided nature drives. Due to the remoteness of the area and therefore very dark skies, the stars are particularly bright, meaning stargazing is a very popular activity.
