Kurland is located where the Outeniqua Mountains sweep down to the waters of the Indian Ocean along South Africa’s Garden Route, close to Plettenberg Bay. A small luxury country hotel with just 12 rooms, set on a vast 700 hectare estate of stunning natural beauty.

The rooms are beautifully decorated in a country house style with a lot of attention to detail, and the warm lighting of lamps and fire light adds to a feeling of comfort. All the bedrooms have adjoining bathrooms, with ten of the bedrooms having loft rooms especially designed for children. There is also a beautifully appointed and tranquil lounge, library and dining room.

The hotel is surrounded by immaculate polo fields with adjacent stables, and horse rides are available for guests. There is a lovely swimming pool in the gardens for adults and some of the suites have private plunge pools. There is also a tennis court, a small health spa and gym, quad bikes and mountain bikes, a 1.25 mile jogging track around the estate and hiking trails to explore. Alternatively guests can choose to relax on the spacious, shaded verandah. Children are very well catered for here, with a variety of facilities (all in a separate area to the main hotel) including an indoor and outdoor playground, a jungle gym, a separate childrens outdoor swimming pool, bikes and horse riding.
