Phinda Forest Lodge
Phinda Forest Lodge is situated in the 22,000 hectare Phinda
Private Game Reserve in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal region.
The reserve encompasses an impressive seven diverse ecosystems
and an extraordinary range of wildlife, including lion, leopard,
buffalo, elephant and rhino.
Accommodation & Facilities
Phinda Forest Lodge is set deep in the heart of the beautiful
sand forest. The lodge is a masterpiece of glass, wood and minimalist
design, set on stilts above the floor of a rare sand forest.
Forest Lodge's 16 glass encapsulated air-conditioned rooms with
en suite bathrooms, are designed to give the feeling of being
at one with the forest habitat. Guests can also relax and unwind
in the lodge's airy and stylish sitting areas that overlooking
the game filled plains or beside the rim-flow swimming pool.
Wildlife & Activities
In addition to twice-daily vehicle based game drives with
highly knowledgeable &Beyond rangers and trackers, guests
can enjoy canoeing on the Mzinene River. Phinda's close proximity
to the Maputaland coastline means that guests can also enjoy
beach activities such as snorkelling and scuba diving, deep-sea
fishing and beach picnics. The 'Flight of the Fish Eagle' offers
guests a birds-eye view of the pristine Maputaland coastline
and some of the highest forested sand dunes in the world, as
well as the famed iSimangaliso Wetland Park (formerly known
as the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park). Horse riding trips outside
the reserve around the nearby Saint Lucia lake can also be arranged
and paid for locally.
