Game Reserve in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal region. The reserve
encompasses an impressive seven diverse ecosystems and an extraordinary
range of wildlife, including lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant
and rhino.
Accommodation & Facilities
Phinda Rock Lodge is an intimate and rather quirky lodge
dramatically set into a cliff face overlooking the magnificent
Leopards Rock. Each of the six large air conditioned suites
is suspended off the edge of the cliff providing spectacular
uninterrupted views over the deep valley below and has a spacious
bedroom, stylish bathroom leading to an outdoor shower, as well
as a lounge and outdoor deck leading to a private plunge pool.
Wildlife & Activities
In addition to twice-daily vehicle based game drives with
highly knowledgeable &Beyond rangers and trackers, guests
can enjoy canoeing on the Mzinene River. Phinda's close proximity
to the Maputaland coastline means that guests can also enjoy
beach activities such as snorkelling and scuba diving, deep-sea
fishing and beach picnics. The 'Flight of the Fish Eagle' offers
guests a birds-eye view of the pristine Maputaland coastline
and some of the highest forested sand dunes in the world, as
well as the famed iSimangaliso Wetland Park (formerly known
as the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park). Horse riding trips outside
the reserve around the nearby Saint Lucia lake can also be arranged
and paid for locally.
