Samara
Samara Private Game Reserve is situated in the malaria free Eastern Cape Region of South Africa. One of the largest private reserves in the country, Samara consists of 28,000 hectares of luscious wilderness. Due to its privacy, Samara guarantees guests seclusion and a free reign to explore the variety of eco systems within the reserve. Samara is well away from tourists traps meaning it is a prime base from which to view spectacular game or simply relax away from the rest of the world.
Accommodation & Facilities
Karoo Lodge, located in a natural amphitheatre of mountains, is an affectionately restored homestead reflecting its colonial past combining authenticity with modern day luxuries. Karoo Lodge has just six beautifully decorated spacious suites all with air conditioning and private bathroom facilities. The main communal area of the lodge comprises a large lounge, dining room and swimming pool. Also positioned within the reserve are the Mountain Retreat and The Manor, both of which are fully staffed properties ideal for families and friends travelling together.
Wildlife & Activities
The diversity of Samara’s various biomes (including savanna and grassland) allows a wide variety of flora and fauna to thrive. Flora includes ancient Shepherd's Trees, Wild Olives, Karoo Sage and Camphor bushes, amongst others. In the company of an expert guide, guests have the opportunity to enjoy game drives with the chance of viewing a variety of animals including cheetah, buffalo, wildebeest, white rhino and many more. Guided walks are also possible.
