All Aboard ....

Aardvark has been arranging Blue Train and Rovos Rail luxury train journeys through South Africa for a number of years now but what is the difference between the two and which one is right for you?

Both trains offer five star luxury in sumptuous surroundings and follow a number of routes, with the main weekly scheduled route for both being from Pretoria to Cape Town (or vice versa). During the journey, guests experience South Africa’s diverse landscapes in comfort and style, while enjoying fine cuisine prepared by top chefs. Your journey will take you through the grasslands of the Highveld, the baron landscape of the Great Karoo and the mountainous scenic winelands of the Cape.

Established in 1989, the train has classic pre-war styling with wood panelled coaches dating back to 1911.	First run in 1946, the new Blue Train was launched in 1997 with 1950’s post-war luxury styling.
Three days and two nights stopping twice, once at Kimberley to see the diamond mines and then at the historic village of Matjiesfontein.	Two days and one night stopping at Kimberley only.
Three levels of accommodation from the Royal Suite, to Deluxe Suites and Pullman Suites	Two levels of accommodation either Luxury Suites or Deluxe Suites
Cost for the trip is approximately £615 per person sharing a Pullman Suite.	Cost for the trip is approximately £620 per person sharing a Deluxe Suite.

There are other less frequently scheduled routes to the Victoria Falls from Pretoria or along the Garden Route from Cape Town. It is even possible to charter either of the trains for private trips.
