Ant's Nest and Ant's Hill Riding
In the malaria free Waterberg region, two privately owned properties share a game reserve. Ant’s Hill and Ant’s Nest riding are safe for families with adults and children. Horseback riding is one of the many activities available and therefore is suitable for non-riders as well. There are about 40 horses ranging from 14.2hh and 16.2 hh featuring breeds of thoroughbreds and Arab-Boerperd. And for the children there are some small ponies. The horses are well trained, fit, reliable, and offers something for everyone. Pace is as you desire from fast to relaxed making this safari much more relaxed than that of a five day horseback safari. Ant’s Hill and Ant’s Nest offer wonderful lodging facilities, which are beautifully decorated with a classic African atmosphere. Ant’s Hill, can accommodate up to 12 people and offers a level of sophistication with spacious rooms. Ant’s Nest which features six rooms is more of a family style home which is great for family and or friends. Both facilities feature swimming pools and have game drives, mountain bike riding, bird watching, walks and bird watching available to keep the non-riders busy.

They have a string of over 40 horses which are made up of big thoroughbreds and Arab-boerperd crosses and include some fabulous children’s ponies. During my short stay here, I managed to get out for a superb morning game ride . We got very close to sable and lots of other antelope and had a few fast canters along open sandy tracks, with a magnificent guide.
