Horizon Horseback Safaris

Just two and a half hours north of Johannesburg, this family farm in the heart of Waterberg Mountains offers a year round lodge.  The setting of this working cattle farm consists of tremendous natural beauty.  It is also a game and essential oil ranch and has 20,000 acres of pure riding bliss, a variety of riding including cross country, polocrosse, and dressage.

There are70 well cared for horses that range in size of  14.1 hh to 16.3 hh.  The breeds are  a mixture of Anglo-Arabs, thoroughbreds, Boerperds and cross breeds that offer something to suit all riding abilities.  Safaris are as long or short as you need them to be and the pace is dictated by the slowest member in the group; rides can accommodate up to a maximum of ten riders can go out on safari.  Horizon also offers  five or eight night trips at the nearby Dinaka game reserve and provide an exhilarating game viewing experience.

Horizon Horseback Lodge overlooks a beautiful lake and the plains beyond.  Non-riders are also welcome and can participate in game drives and guided walks.  The facility also offers a pool shaded verandah and bar area.
