The Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is the largest private game reserve in South Africa. It covers 312 square miles on the edge of the Kalahari Desert. Eight stone and thatch cottages make up Twalu's Motse Lodge. Each has private indoor and outdoor showers, with the outdoor showers enjoying views across the open plains. There is a dining room, but guests can also eat in the lounge of their cottage if they wish. There is also a library and swimming pool. Tswalu's Tarkuni Villa sits in a private section of the reserve between two rolling mountain ranges and offers guests remote luxury. It is entirely self-contained with its own chef and private game viewing vehicle and is suited to families and small groups from 8 to 10 people. The villa has four bedrooms, each with an adjoining bathroom, a lounge and dining room, as well as a library, veranda and a pool. There are also two sets of bunk beds, as well as single beds for child care staff for families looking for child specific accommodations. Both Motse and Tarkuni offer guided walks and game drives, and although wildlife at Tswalu is not dense, our clients have enjoyed surprisingly good sightings alongside the stunning scenery. The habituated meerkats are a particular favorite for adults and children alike. Horseback riding, star gazing and bird-watching are also possible.
