Hatari Lodge
Hatari Lodge is located just a short distance from Arusha in northern Tanzania on the edge of Mount Meru National Park. Meru is one of the smallest national parks in Tanzania but swamps and lush forest vegetation mean it is rich with wildlife. The lodge itself has wonderful views of Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, in the distance. There are nine notably comfortable rooms at Hatari Lodge, each with an open fireplace and a roomy adjoining bathroom. The rooms have been attentively adorned in a retro style, evoking the 1960s and 1970s and the beginning of safaris in Tanzania. The oldest building aids as a large central lounge and dining room where guests will enjoy excellent cuisine. There is also a cozy lounge area and bar with a verandah and viewing balcony, as well as a library. The small plains and lush forest entices a number of antelope species as well as buffalo, warthogs and many giraffe. Activities include open top game drives around the lakes and high up into Mount Meru where you may catch a sighting of a colobus monkey. It is also possible to go hiking and canoeing on the Momella Lakes during your stay.
