Hatari Lodge    
  
Hatari Lodge is located just a short distance from Arusha in northern Tanzania on the edge of Mount Meru National Park. Meru is one of the smallest national parks in Tanzania but swamps and lush forest vegetation mean it is rich with wildlife. The lodge itself has wonderful views of Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, in the distance. The nine rooms are comfortably furnished and have been decorated in a style to evoke the 1960s and 1970s, when safaris first really took off in Tanzania. Each room has an open fireplace and adjoining bathroom. In the oldest building, there is a living and dining room where guest can enjoy delicious food. The cozy lounge and bar with a veranda, library and viewing deck, complete the guest facilities. The nearby plains and forest attract many antelope species as well as giraffe, warthog and buffalo. Activities available from Hatari include game drives, hiking up into Mount Meru, and canoeing.
