Manyara Ranch

Manyara Ranch is a simple authentic camp located on the 35,000 acre
Manyara Ranch Conservancy between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National
Parks in northern Tanzania. It works with the local Masai communities to
protect the migration corridors between Lake Natron, Ngorongoro,
Manyara, Tarangire and the Masai lands to the south. Manyara Ranch
Conservancy was originally established as a cattle ranch, and still has a
small herd of beef cattle and some black-headed sheep. In partnership
with the African Wildlife Foundation and the Tanzanian Land Conservation
Trust the Ranch has established working relationships with the Masai
and developed community conservation projects, whilst also regenerating
the ranch itself.
Accommodation & Facilities
Manyara Ranch is a traditional tented safari camp with six spacious
raised safari tents, each with en-suite bathrooms with flush loos and
hot and cold running water. There is also a dining tent with inside and
outside dining areas, and a lounge which has comfortable sofa and
coffee table books.
Wildlife & Activities
Thanks to several large dams, wildlife is a big feature of Manyara Ranch
with a wide range of resident herbivores including elephants, giraffe,
wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, as well as predators such as lion, hyena,
cheetah, leopard, jackal and bat-eared foxes. For many years wild dogs
have denned on the ranch too. Game viewing activities on the ranch
include day and night game drives, spending time in carefully located
hides, and escorted bush walks. Other activities that can be booked and
paid for locally include horse riding safaris (for experienced riders
only), visits to the local Masai villages and school, bush meals, fly
camping and day trips to Tarangire, Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater
National Parks.
