Jacana Safari Lodge
Jacana Safari Lodge is situated in western Uganda on the border of the Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP). The lodge overlooks a beautiful lake and is just on the edge of the forest where black and white colobus monkeys can be seen playing in the trees. There are only nine rooms, each is comfortably furnished with a private bathroom and a view over the lake. The main building has a bar, restaurant and lounge, and there is also a swimming pool and sun deck.
The open savannah around the lodge itself has few
tracks, so most of the game drives take place around thirty minutes away on the
network of roads across the Kazinga Channel.
As well as numerous buffalo and elephant, antelope, including Ugandan kob,
defassa waterbuck and bushnok can be seen here. A total of 20 different
predators may be found in the park, with animals such as leopard and lion
spotted regularly. Boat cruises along
the Kazinga channel are available, as well as safaris and game drives. Chanbura
Gorge forms the border between the QENP and the there is the opportunity to
spend time tracking chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, and
red-tailed monkeys.
