Mweya Safari Lodge
Mweya Safari Lodge is perched on a hill overlooking Lake Edward in the Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda. The scenery here is beautiful, with the Congo across the lake to the west and the Rwenzori Mountains to the north. Game viewing is relatively easy due to the open savannah and the network of tracks and roads in the national park. There are many elephant and buffalo and a variety of antelope, including defassa, Ugandan kob, bushbuck and waterbuk. Leopard and lion can also be spotted easily and there are a total of 20 different predators in the park. Accommodations in the camp are in 50 terraced rooms with private bathroom facilities. There is a bar, lounge, and restaurant in the main building, as well as a large swimming pool and sun deck close by. The main area and all the rooms overlook the lake or the Kazinga channel. The health club offers a selection of exercise classes along with massages, steam baths and a sauna. The business centre has internet facilities should guests need this. Boat cruises in flat-bottomed launches are available along the Kazinga Channel, while game drives can also be taken in the local area. There is also the opportunity to see more game in the Kyambura Gorge, the border between Kyambura Wildlife Reserve and Queen Elizabeth National Park. There is the chance to do some trekking here, with the possibility of seeing black and white colobus monkeys, chimpanzees and red-tailed monkeys.
