Zambian Dawn Safaris - Kafue
Zambian Dawn Safaris operate scheduled and private mobile camping safaris for up to six guests in Kafue,
South Luangwa and North Luangwa National Parks. The company is owned and run by David and Una Bowden.
David grew up in Zambia, and knows it and its wildlife intimately. He does most of the guiding as well
as hosting the safaris. The individual camp sites have been carefully chosen to provide attractive and
peaceful settings, and easy access to excellent wildlife. This safari offers great scenic diversity,
and an overview of the main habitats of Kafue.
Accommodation & Facilities
Guests sleep in three mini-Meru tents which are spacious, well ventilated and attractively furnished
with proper beds and a table and chairs. Each tent has its own bucket shower and safari loo nearby,
while all are well spaced for privacy. Hot water for the shower is available on request throughout the
day. The camp has a mess tent for the rare occasions when it’s not possible to eat outside, but
during a Zambian Dawn Safari the majority of meals are enjoyed under the sky. The camp moves every two
days on all of the scheduled safaris, spending two nights camped by the Lunga River, two nights on the
Lufupa River and two nights on the Busanga Plains. The camp team take care of this while the guests
are out on safari.
Wildlife & Activities
Walking safaris, day and night game drives, and occasional boat trips are possible on a Zambian
Dawn Safari. The areas where the safaris operate are very remote and you are highly unlikely to see
any other vehicles or people during your safari. Thanks to the carefully thought out itineraries guests
have an excellent opportunity to get the very best out of each location during their safari.
