Chole Mjini

Chole Mjini is an owner run eco-friendly lodge positioned on the small and perfect island of Chole, set in the clear waters of Chole Bay, at the heart of Mafia’s Marine Park and encompassed by natural beauty.  

The seven tree houses, nestled by Baobabs, are wonderfully open, roomy with large double beds and offer spectacular views over the ocean. The lodge has been very thoughtfully designed with everything being crafted from local materials.

The owners of Chole Mjini are both biologists and have more than 15 years of diving experience in Mafia, so can offer guests an amazing opportunity to snorkel, skin dive or Scuba dive and see the best conserved coral reefs and biggest and most plentiful fish in East Africa. There is an on-site dive shop and PADI instructor, specialising in small groups and individual training. It is also, possible to see Turtles hatching from Chloe Mjini (July through to November) and swim with Whale Sharks (December through to March). Other activities include exploring the neighbouring islands to view spectacular ruins, swim in inland pools and explore forests.
