Makalolo Plains

     

Makalolo Plains is only of only a handful of camps to be located within the actual border of Hwange National Park. Situated within a private concession and built upon a raised teak deck, Makalolo Plains enjoys fantastic panoramas across the Somavundla Pan.

Accommodation & Facilities
Ten large, comfortable tented rooms make up Makalolo Plains, each with private bathroom facilities as well as an outdoor shower should guests wish to bathe under the stars. The main communal area consists of a lounge, pub and dining area where high quality meals are served. There is a plunge pool providing excellent means by which to relax. Due to battery powered lighting, the camp is very quiet and tranquil at night, leaving guests to listen to the sounds of the surrounding bushveld.

Wildlife & Activities
Most activities revolve around game drives, night drives and guided walks at Makalolo. However, guests also have the opportunity to view wildlife right on their doorstep by sitting in one of the well located hides or on a raised viewing platform above the waterhole. The largest national park in Zimbabwe, Hwange has fantastic concentrations of predators meaning encounters of predators such as lion, leopard, wild dog and cheetah are fairly common.
